Witnesses wanted: Man reports stabbing while fishing Monday night at McKay Lake

DENVER (KDVR) — A 60-year-old man told police he was stabbed while fishing at McKay Lake on Monday night.

The Westminster Police Department first learned of the incident when officers were called for an agency assist just before 11 p.m. on Monday regarding a stabbing near 144th Avenue and Zuni Street in Broomfield. Later, officers determined the stabbing occurred in Westminster on McKay Lake’s southwest shoreline.

Police located blood near the lake’s shoreline and learned that a 60-year-old man had called 911 to report a non-life-threatening stab wound and had driven himself to a nearby hospital.

The man told police he had been fishing at the lake with an unknown person who had reportedly been wearing a rain jacket and tan shorts. The person left, the victim told police, and about 30 minutes elapsed…
