Colorado student free climbs one of the most difficult rock walls on Earth

BOULDER, Colo. — University of Colorado Boulder aerospace engineering student Katie Kelble recently completed one of the planet’s most challenging rock climbing routes.

During her summer break, Kelble conquered “The American Way” in Kyrgyzstan after a grueling three-day ascent.

The 950-meter route, established in 2019 and accessible only by horseback, is slightly larger than California’s famous “El Capitan” and features a 5.13A free climb mixed with several technically demanding steep pitches…
