A horse named Sweetie was rescued from mud in rural Boulder County on Thursday afternoon by animal protection units, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
At approximately 1:08 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a horse immersed in mud and stuck in the 6200 block of Plateau Road, located just east of Altona in rural Boulder County.
According to the sheriff’s office, the property owner discovered his horse “Sweetie,” an adult Warmblood mare trapped in the mud. When he attempted to free the horse, he also became stuck and called out for help. A neighbor responded to the call for help and then alerted 911 to the situation.
