Man who threw knives at Broomfield officers faces assault charges

17th Judicial District officials filed assault charges against a man who allegedly threw knives at Broomfield police officers in an armed standoff last week.

The district attorney charged Brett Carlini, 28, with eight counts of first-degree assault with a weapon, plus a second-degree assault on a peace officer charge, for allegedly starting an armed standoff with authorities at the WoodSpring Suites on Edgeview Drive in Broomfield on Thursday, Aug. 28.
