‘Knew she was in danger’: Family speaks out after pregnant woman found dead in abandoned car in Brighton

GREELEY, Colo. (KDVR) — Loved ones of Keeley Koff, the pregnant woman found dead in an abandoned car in Brighton, are asking for prayers and thanking people for their support as they mourn her loss.

The discovery of Koff’s body was just the beginning of a violent day in Brighton.

“She was just very kind,” said Valeria Koff, Keeley’s aunt. “She loved all of her children. Her family loves her very, very much and we miss her, you know, more than I can express.”

Police say the man suspected in her death, James (Jaime) Benavidez, went on to commit multiple crimes, including an attempted carjacking, stealing a second vehicle, a police pursuit and firing at officers before being taken into custody.

“She had told other people that this guy had a gun,” Keeley’s aunt said. “So, she was trying to get away from him. She knew she was in danger.”…
