Texas officials say Colorado residents might be able to help solve 1984 cold case murder

DENVER — Authorities in Texas are still trying to figure out who carried out the 1984 murder of a young woman — now, decades later, they say Colorado residents might be able to help crack the case, according to a release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

More than 40 years ago, skeletal remains were found in Wizard Wells, a remote area of Jack County, Texas. It wasn’t until last year that officials were able to identify the remains as 25-year-old Roberta “Berta” Mumma’s due to advanced forensic techniques and DNA analysis, the release said.

Authorities believe that Mumma might have been in Colorado, specifically in Denver and Boulder, before she was killed. The CBI said the Texas Rangers would like to hear from anyone who might have met her while she was in the state, as well as from any of her acquaintances in Tennessee and Texas.

People who may have any information about Mumma or her death are also being asked to contact authorities…
