Colorado Community On Lookout For Mountain Lion After Dog ‘Taken’ From Backyard

Police in Colorado are warning pet owners to be aware of mountain lion activity after a small dog was “taken” from a backyard in a suspected mountain lion encounter.

The Town of Erie Police Department said Tuesday that its office was notified of a “likely” mountain lion encounter that took place shortly after midnight on Oct. 3, when a small dog was taken from a backyard in the Erie Air Park area near Erie Municipal Airport, about 25 miles north of Denver.

The police department said its Animal Control officer is investigating, and any sightings should be reported to Erie Police Dispatch at 303-441-4444 or Colorado Parks and Wildlife at 303-291-7227 during business hours…
