Two injured in Lafayette after young driver falls asleep, drives into pole

An adult and a minor were taken to a hospital after the minor fell asleep behind the wheel of a car, veering off the road, rolling over and striking a utility pole.

Around 9:05 p.m. Wednesday night, Lafayette police responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a car headed eastbound on Arapahoe Road just west of U.S. 287, according to Lafayette police Deputy Chief Brian Rosipajla. The minor, who was driving, reportedly fell asleep, Rosipajla said.

The adult passenger is in the hospital and is in serious condition, and the youth driver sustained minor injuries, Rosipajla said. Neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash, Rosipajla added…
