Boulder Resident Honored for Educating Local Youth on Wildlife and Outdoor Safety

Carolyn Brigham has been named a featured volunteer by Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) for her work as an Education Naturalist. Since 2008, she has led nature hikes and classroom programs. Her efforts help children and youth in Boulder learn about the environment and local wildlife. She has provided both in-class visits and outdoor lessons on OSMP trails.

Brigham has helped develop wildlife programs for third graders. These programs teach students how to safely interact with animals such as coyotes, mountain lions, snakes, and bears. Over the past fifteen years, more teachers have requested these classroom visits.

Brigham also leads hikes with second and third graders, especially on trails near Chautauqua and South Mesa. She teaches outdoor safety and wildlife awareness, sharing information about caring for oneself and local animals…
