LAFAYETTE, Co. (KDVR) — A coffin burial ban has been put in place in the city of Lafayette’s cemetery.
That’s right: No more coffins, at least for now. The city issued a moratorium on those types of burials after crews found human remains while digging a hole for another grave.
Very decomposed parts of a coffin and human remains were found in Lafayette Cemetery, which has been around since the late 1800s. Small pieces of wood, handles, and latches were dug up, mixed in with the remains.
