Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies Participate in Full Scale Child Abduction Training Exercise

30 law enforcement agencies in the north central Colorado region recently participated in a “full-scale training exercise” to practice responding to the disappearance of a child. The simulation included door-to-door canvassing, k-9 searchers, digital forensics, and viewing surveillance footage in order to locate a “missing 12-year-old girl” as part of the exercise. This is the training required for the Child Abduction Response Team to ensure readiness for when a child does go missing: the goal of the training is to make sure that the department’s response is swift and effective.

Longmont Public Safety, the Boulder Police Department, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Boulder DA’s Office, the FBI, and the CBI were among the participating agencies in the training exercise. “This training wasn’t just about checking boxes,” the Denver Police Department wrote on Facebook. “It was about building relationships, sharpening skills, and ensuring that when the unthinkable happens, we’re ready to bring kids home safely.”
