BOULDER, Colo. (KDVR) — The woman convicted of hitting and killing 17-year-old pro-cyclist Magnus White faced a judge Tuesday for a restitution hearing. The appearance happened just weeks after his family learned she could get out of prison earlier than expected.
“It’s our honor to fight for justice for Magnus and for the White family,” Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty said. “Today is another step in us having to do that.”
Yeva Smilianska appeared in person before a judge on Tuesday. The state asked her to pay for the funeral costs for White and therapy for his loved ones in the amount of $19,256.26. White was struck and killed in 2023 while training for the Mountain Biking World Championships.
