Boulder Valley School District sees steep enrollment drop

The Boulder Valley School District this fall posted its second largest enrollment decline since the pandemic.

The district saw a steeper decline than expected with an overall drop of 1.9%, or about 525 students, according to Senior Planner Glen Segrue. The district’s total K-12 enrollment this school year is 26,607 students. The October enrollment count determines the state’s K-12 per-pupil funding.

The previous school year, the district’s enrollment dropped about .5%. In the fall of 2023, it declined by about about 1%, while enrollment was down about 2% in the fall of 2022. Over the last five years, the average decline was 1.3%…
