Councilmember Barbara Hamlington of Ward 3 is stepping into the role as Louisville’s mayor pro tem, with the unanimous backing of the City Council.
Under Louisville’s city charter, the City Council appoints a councilmember as mayor pro tem for a two-year term to “perform the responsibilities of the mayor when the mayor is absent or is otherwise unable to perform the responsibilities of the mayor.”
