In Annual Update, Boulder Police Say New Evidence Tested, Old Re-tested in JonBenet Ramsey Case

As we approach the tragic anniversary of the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, the Boulder Police Department is providing its annual update about the ongoing homicide investigation.

“Last year we gave you an update about a lot of the work that has been done to solve this crime and those efforts have continued. This case remains a top priority for our department,” Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn said. “This past year, our detectives have conducted several new interviews as well as re-interviewed individuals based on tips we’ve received. We have also collected new evidence and tested and re-tested other pieces of evidence to generate new leads. Techniques and technology constantly evolve. This is especially true with technology related to DNA testing. Detectives continue to consult with outside experts from across the country, as well as our state and federal partners to strategizeand explore all options when it comes to evidence testing. While we cannot go into the specific of who we interviewed, what we tested and what we’ve learned without compromising our active investigation, we know it’s important to share this update with our community.”
