Denver forecasted to have hottest Christmas Day on record (and records started in 1872)

It’s looking like Denver will experience its hottest Christmas on record this week – at least that will be the case if the National Weather Service forecast holds true.

Based on temperature records dating back to 1872, the hottest December 25 in Denver took place in 2005 when the city warmed up to 69 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in mind that the typical temperature in Denver on Christmas Day is 43 degrees and prior to the aforementioned record being set, the city’s hottest Christmas hit 66 (in both 1955 and 1971).

This year, it’s likely the city’s all-time record high of 69 degrees on Christmas will be toppled, with the National Weather Service predicting a high of 71 degrees on Thursday in Denver. Many other forecasting services echo this prediction, as well…
