Man sentenced for killing woman on Amtrak train

DENVER — More than nine years after a woman’s body was found on an Amtrak train at Union Station in Denver, her killer has been sentenced.

On Friday, Angelo Mantych was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. On Dec. 12, a Denver jury convicted him of first-degree murder for the death of Marina Placensia.

She was killed on Sept. 1, 2016, while on board a train traveling from Wisconsin to Denver with Mantychn and her four children. Family told 9NEWS she was trying to escape an abusive relationship when she was killed…
