WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — State lawmakers will debate whether to allow towns, cities and counties in Colorado to post automated photo radar cameras on interstate highways.
The move is championed by the City of Wheat Ridge, which wants to post a speed camera along the stretch of Interstate 70 that runs through the city – between the Wadsworth Blvd exit and the exit for 32nd Ave.
“When we deal with a crash out there, we’re handling the whole investigation and everything, and it’s really a resource drain on our department,” said Alex Rose, spokesman for the Wheat Ridge Police Department, which handles a majority of the crashes along this stretch of highway…
