Denver elementary school’s dual-language program prepares students to be global citizens

DENVER — At Denver Center for International Studies (DCIS) at Fairmont, education extends beyond traditional classroom walls as students immerse themselves in both English and Spanish, learning not just a second language but the cultures that come with it.

The Denver Public Schools elementary program offers early full-immersion education, teaching students from early childhood education through fifth grade in both languages. The model aims to create bilingual, culturally aware students who can navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
