ICE investigating after agents allegedly leave ‘death cards’ in detainees’ vehicles in CO

DENVER (KDVR) – Lawmakers in Colorado are calling for an investigation after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents allegedly left “death cards” with information for their Denver field office inside the abandoned vehicles of people who were detained in Eagle County.

Voces Unidas de las Montañas, a local nonprofit organization and advocacy group for the Latino community in the area, first shared news of the cards in an article published last month. The nonprofit reported that the cards were found by family members after ICE detained 10 Latino community members and left them in the abandoned vehicles.

ICE conducts operations in Manhattan

The cards are designed to look like an ace of spades from a standard deck of playing cards. They contain language reading, “ICE Denver Field Office,” as well as the address and phone number for the ICE processing center in Aurora.

The ace of spades is also sometimes known as the “death card,” and while many sources say the origin of that nickname is not exactly known, its legacy lives on partially due to its history in psychological warfare.
