COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Family members of a boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert earlier this month told police he was “forcibly” taken by his father who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Commerce City Police said 45-year-old Jeremy Chavez took the 4-year-old boy from a home on Feb. 13 prompting the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to issue an Amber Alert.
According to court documents, family members said Chavez was not allowed unsupervised contact with the boy due to mental health issues and substance abuse.
