CU Boulder Residence Life to split RA role into two jobs

The University of Colorado Boulder will eliminate the traditional resident advisor student leader role in dorms starting this fall in favor of a new structure that will split the role into two different jobs.

Instead of RAs, CU Boulder will have community engagement mentors and residential support leaders. Residence Life Director Craig Kuehnert said the change is to reduce the burden of the job on the student workers and better support the students who live in the dorms.

“Everything that we do currently to support a student will continue to happen,” Kuehnert said. “It will just happen under two different positions, allowing people to be a little bit deeper in their expertise in the ways that they support students.”…
