On March 1, University of Colorado Boulder quarterback Dominiq Ponder, 23, was killed in an automobile crash that took place near one of the largest reservoirs in Boulder County.
Per a report from Colorado State Patrol, preliminary evidence points to Ponder losing control of a 2023 Tesla Model 3 while traveling westbound on Baseline Road at about 3 a.m. Ponder was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The crash occurred in the area of Newland Court on a right-hand curve, with this location being roughly where Baseline Lake Swim Club is located. Evidence is said to point to the Telsa traveling across eastbound lanes before striking a guardrail, traveling through that guardrail and striking an electric pole before rolling down an embankment. The vehicle landed on its wheels and caught fire.
Ponder was pronounced deceased at the scene, with authorities noting that preliminary evidence seems to indicate that speed may have been a factor in the crash…
