BOULDER, Colo. (KDVR) — A hiker who was evacuated from a popular Boulder trail during a weekend wildfire said the situation became tense as smoke rose below the mountains and park officials rushed people off the trails.
Nick Wilkins said he and his girlfriend were about 40 minutes into a hike up the Flatirons at Chautauqua Park on Saturday when they noticed smoke and turned around.
“It was definitely a little scary being on top of the mountain and seeing the fire down below and thinking, like, ‘Oh, it’s kind of coming towards us,’” Wilkins said…
