Open burning, some grilling prohibited under new fire ban in Broomfield

Open burning of any kind and some grilling is prohibited after Broomfield police announced Tuesday that the city and county of Broomfield is now under a level two fire ban, amid high winds and sustained warmer-than-usual temperatures.

No open burning is allowed, including any charcoal or wood-fired grilling, according to a Broomfield police social media post announcing the change. People in Broomfield are also prohibited from tossing cigarettes outside or doing anything that may produce sparks, like welding or soldering, the post states.

The ban comes on the same day as a red flag warning across Broomfield, as the National Weather Service warns of high winds, low humidity and a high risk of wildfire spread…
