New BVSD Student ID Policy

Starting sometime next school year, students of BVSD high schools will have to scan their Student ID before walking into every classroom. Otherwise, students will not be allowed to enter the classroom. Classroom doors must be shut at all times, and if anyone tries to get around this new policy, they will be suspended for a period of time or worse. There will be cameras outside of every room, and everything will be captured. This comes after all of the concerns and safety threats in the past year.

There has been lots of backlash regarding this new policy, and some are feeling very afraid and unprepared for this, especially because most students do not remember their IDs. An anonymous 9th grader told us that, “I usually don’t bring my ID to school, and honestly I don’t even know where mine is. I mostly just wait for someone to show up so that I can enter the building, so now I might be cooked”.

Other students are optimistic about this change, including this anonymous 10th grader who explained that, “I feel like this is a refreshing change for the school. This can make us feel safe and secure for all students and staff alike”…
