Officer clocks teen driving nearly 70 mph over speed limit with brother in car

DENVER (KDVR) — A 16-year-old is facing charges after an officer reportedly clocked the teen driving 100 mph in a 35 mph zone with his little brother in the car.

The Commerce City Police Department released body camera footage of an officer pulling over a teen driver on Monday afternoon. In a Facebook post, police said Officer Castellanos stopped the vehicle at 105 mph, which was clocked as 100 mph on the radar.

Police said this was in a construction zone on Highway 2, where the speed limit drops to 35 mph, making it nearly 70 mph over the speed limit.

The driver didn’t have a license or insurance on him, according to police, and his 12-year-old brother was in the passenger seat next to him. Police said they could’ve charged him with child abuse, however, he is facing charges of reckless driving and speeding, and was cited for no license and no insurance. The vehicle was also impounded…
