Boulder Valley school board hears budget update amid declining enrollment

The Boulder Valley school board heard an update Tuesday that shows the district is facing a second year of a constrained budget amid continued declining enrollment.

Boulder Valley is projecting a loss of about 400 students next school year, for a total enrollment of 27,070 students, including preschool. Over the next several days, the district is hosting community meetings to get feedback on declining enrollment solutions that could include consolidating schools, reconfiguring grade levels and relocating programs. District staff members plan to present a draft plan in August and a final plan to the school board for approval in October.
