Boulder Valley wraps up declining enrollment engagement sessions in East County

Close to 200 parents attended a community engagement session Wednesday at Louisville’s Monarch High School to give the Boulder Valley School District feedback on declining enrollment solutions that could include consolidating or closing schools, reconfiguring grade levels and relocating programs.

Monarch’s 2½ hour, focus-group-style meeting was the last of six held around the district over the last two weeks. In total, close to 1,000 people attended the sessions, according to the district.

At the end of the interactive sessions, participants wrote out their thoughts about the possible scenarios. District leaders plan to compile that feedback as they work on a draft plan to address declining enrollment. A summary of the feedback will be presented to the school board in June, followed by a draft plan in August. The school board is scheduled to vote on a final plan in October…
