Jury acquits man of murder charge related to deadly hit-and-run crash

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — An Adams County jury on Monday acquitted a man of first-degree murder at his second trial in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash more than two years ago.

August Romero was previously tried on charges of first-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident involving death last fall. The October trial ended with Romero being convicted of leaving the scene of an accident, but the jury could not agree on a verdict for the murder charge, resulting in a hung jury related to that charge only.
