St. Petersburg man dies after motorcycle crash with hit-and-run driver

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — A St. Petersburg man has died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash earlier this month.

Yaudel Enrique Rosabal Fernandez, of St. Petersburg, succumbed to his injuries over the weekend at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, according to a press release. The incident occurred on May 9, shortly after 10 p.m., when Rosabal Fernandez was riding a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle eastbound in the 3300 block of 38th Avenue North. At the same time, Promise Jermeise Burnett, also of St. Petersburg, was driving a gold Toyota Camry westbound on 38th Avenue North, approaching 33rd Street North.

The crash happened when Burnett made a left turn at the intersection of 38th Avenue and 33rd Street North, entering the path of Rosabal Fernandez’s motorcycle, which then collided with the passenger side of the Toyota. Burnett initially fled the scene with two children but returned approximately 30 to 40 minutes later, the press release stated. The children were treated for minor injuries at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, while Burnett suffered minor injuries but did not seek hospital treatment at the time…
