Armed, ski mask-wearing teen arrested after Sarasota police say he burglarized car

SARASOTA Fla. (WSNN) — Sarasota police responded to a home on South Osprey Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Saturday after a suspect was spotted wearing a ski mask and all-black clothing while standing next to an open vehicle.

According to a police report, the homeowner intended to confront the suspect but believed he saw a gun holster on him. The suspect then fled the area on a black scooter.

With assistance from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Air 1 helicopter, officers located 18-year-old Jaquez Burrows a few blocks away near Pomelo Avenue and Alta Vista Street.

During a search, officers found two empty 13-round Glock handgun magazines in Burrows’ pocket.
