SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Manatee County commissioners approved several measures Tuesday to protect Old Memphis Cemetery after the historically Black burial ground was vandalized early last month.
The motions, which passed unanimously, direct the county to explore using ground-penetrating radar to identify unmarked burial sites, search for grant funding and look into national historic designation for the cemetery.
