Bradenton-Sarasota Roads Among Nation’s Most Dangerous for Pedestrians

A Smart Growth America/National Complete Streets Coalition map shows the deadliest metro areas for pedestrians.

The Bradenton region remains one of the most dangerous in the nation for pedestrians, according to a new report from Smart Growth America and the National Complete Streets Coalition.

The research and advocacy groups compile “Dangerous by Design” about every two years. The 2026 report identifies some progress in communities but still reports 39,254 people were killed on U.S. roads in 2024, including 7,080 pedestrians…
