Above average heat sticks into next week

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – It’s a First Alert Day at ABC7 due to the high heat expected again this afternoon. Coastal areas should reach the mid 90s, while inland spots climb into the mid to upper 90s. It will feel hotter, with heat index values near 110. A stray afternoon storm is possible, but most neighborhoods stay dry.

Saturday brings a better chance for afternoon and evening storms. Expect sun, clouds and highs near the mid to low 90s. Storms may pop up from coastal Bradenton and Sarasota east toward Lakewood Ranch, Parrish, Myakka City and North Port, but it does not look like a washout.

Sunday and Monday look more typical for July, with warm mornings, hot afternoons with isolated to scattered storms. Highs stay close to the mid 90s. By Tuesday and Wednesday, storms will be more widespread, so keep the umbrella handy…
