First Alert Weather: Tropical low in Gulf could bring flooding rain, beach hazards this weekend

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Meteorologist Bob Harrigan is monitoring two areas of concern in the Gulf as a developing tropical low threatens to bring disruptive weather to the region beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend.

The system is not expected to reach tropical storm or hurricane strength, but Harrigan said it could still cause significant problems, including localized flooding and hazardous beach conditions.

Friday carries a 60% chance of rain, with some storms expected to be heavy at times. Temperatures will be cooler than recent days due to increased cloud cover.
