Manatee County commissioners weigh location options for $80M ice sports complex

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (WWSB) – Manatee County commissioners are deciding whether to keep a proposed $80 million indoor ice sports complex at a site near Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch or move it to a different location. The decision could affect nearby residents, local businesses and the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex, which has operated in the county for decades.

Commissioners approved negotiations with IceMann Development on June 22 for the facility. The project calls for nearly 190,000 square feet of space, including rinks for hockey and figure skating, as well as areas for volleyball, cheerleading and community events.
