SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Saturday’s rain was a perfect example of the chance for “Excessive Rain”. Lakewood Ranch reported just 0.13” of rain, Nokomis just 0.07”. But parts of Sarasota received over an inch. Across from Sarasota High School 1.68” was reported. Farther east, where Bahia Vista crosses Phillippi Creek, 2.39” fell.

We have another day with some scattered thunderstorm action. Any storms that develop could bring a localized heavy downpour, so urban and low-lying areas with poor drainage may experience localized flooding. Thunderstorm chances increase after Tuesday. Rain could be more widespread again starting on Wednesday. This pattern will persist through the week, with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing daily.
