BRADENTON, Fla. — Canada is expected to levy retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods next month, a move that could add uncertainty for Florida businesses that trade with one of the state’s largest international markets.
The latest round of U.S. tariffs, which went into effect on Aug. 22, will add a 50% tax on about $20 billion worth of Canadian goods. In response, Canada announced a 50% retaliatory tariff Tuesday on $27.6 billion in U.S. goods that will go into effect on Sept. 8.
