SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – After nearly 36 hours of fairly dry, pleasant warm weather, conditions will shift dramatically this weekend as moisture returns and an upper-level low moves into the region. Residents should prepare for the possibility of strong thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.
Tonight and Friday: A Brief Calm
Tonight will be beautiful across the area. Clear skies will offer excellent viewing of Venus about an hour after sunset around 7:30 p.m. Temperatures will drop to the mid-70s overnight, with some areas east of I-75 potentially dipping into the low 70s.
Friday will start pleasant with low humidity and temperatures reaching around 90 degrees by mid-afternoon — near normal for this time of year. However, the “feels like” temperature could reach 100-102 degrees due to the returning humidity. A 30% chance of scattered showers exists Friday afternoon, primarily along the coast where sea breeze convergence could trigger isolated storms.
The boater’s advisory currently in effect will expire at 2 a.m. Thursday and will not return through the weekend.
