Sarasota breaks ground on supportive housing for young adults aging out of foster care

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Community leaders broke ground today on a new supportive housing community in Sarasota for young adults aging out of foster care.

The project will have 20 units in five homes. It is designed for young adults aging out of foster care who need a safe place to land.

Aging out of the system

Isaac Cedeno entered foster care at age 9. When he turned 18, he had to find housing on his own.

“When I turned 18 I lived with a roommate for a bit, but that didn’t work out. I was going to high school and juggling a lot of things,” Cedeno said…
