MANASOTA KEY, Fla. (WWSB) – Crews worked Saturday to clear sand and debris from Manasota Key Road after floodwaters that trapped two vehicles Friday afternoon receded, leaving mounds of sand across the roadway and into yards.
Diane Supernat, who lives off Manasota Key Road, evacuated her home as the water rose.
“I was nervous,” Supernat said, “I was in the house on my computer and walked out on the lanai and just a waterfall coming into the boat basin. I looked all around the house and it’s just coming over and not stopping.”

Gavin Gauthier, a Venice resident, said he didn’t expect to see sand one day later…
