Tampa woman hit, killed by car while walking across I-75

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman who tried to cross Interstate 75 in Manatee County was hit and killed by a car on Tuesday evening.

Troopers said the 29-year-old Tampa woman was walking east on I-75 and attempted to cross the southbound travel lanes near mile marker 224 just after 8:30 p.m.

A car traveling in the left lane hit the woman. The woman died at the scene.

The car’s driver, a 20-year-old Sarasota man, was not hurt. A 19-year-old woman was a passenger in the car and she also wasn’t hurt.

It is not known if the driver will face any charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
