TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A state of emergency that was put in place during Hurricane Debby is being extended on Thursday in Manatee County.
Residents who are already dealing with devastation following the storm are worried things could get even worse.
Andrew Seyler’s Lakewood Ranch home used to be filled with love and laughter from his family.
“We have four kids,” Seyler said. “We are trying to find somewhere to live, amongst trying to fix stuff. It has rocked our world like nothing else. I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy.”
But now it’s left gutted, with power tools along the concrete floors and sounds of contract workers echo throughout his home.
Two weeks after Hurricane Debby devastated parts of Manatee County, residents are just now starting to rebuild.
“We had to throw everything away, kid’s toys, bedrooms, cabinets,” Seyler said.
Seyler said the threat of heavy rain again brings renewed anxiety.
“Everybody is going to be impacted, for the future fearing every time it rains, fearing something terrible is going to happen, “Seyler said.
