Powerboat racing will return to Sheboygan for third summer, but with a new race series

SHEBOYGAN – Powerboat racing will return to the city’s shores next August for the third year, this time with a debut race series.

Sheboygan will host the second set of races in the P1 Offshore Triple Crown Aug. 8-10, according to a news release. The race series includes six races and prize funds for winners in each class. P1 AquaX jet ski competitions will also be included.

“This event has become a highlight of our summer, showcasing our city’s dynamic waterfront and bringing together residents and visitors for an unforgettable ride,” Mayor Ryan Sorenson said in a news release.

“We are looking forward to another fantastic year of racing, connection and celebration as part of the P1 Offshore Triple Crown,” the mayor added.

New Orleans will host the first leg June 20-22, and St. Petersburg, Florida, will host the third leg Sept. 5-7.

“With the support of leading venues, sponsors and partners, the Triple Crown will showcase the very best in offshore racing, alongside P1 AquaX jet ski action, to create an outstanding spectacle for fans and visitors,” Thomas Covington, recently appointed head of P1 Offshore USA, said.
