NOKOMIS — A Nokomis man is in the Sarasota County Jail on a $231,000 bond, accused of battering two women, then fleeing from law enforcement on a scooter.
Chase Taylor Cocroft, 36, of the 400 block of Blackburn Road, was arrested on Dec. 30 on charges of domestic battery, battery, two counts of driving while license revoked, fleeing to elude law enforcement with lights and siren active, resisting an officer without violence, failure to register a motor vehicle and contempt of court for failure to appear for criminal case management.
He faces arraignment on the license and registration charges on Jan. 24 and on the remaining charges on Feb. 14.
According to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit, a deputy responded to an address on Lake Shore Drive in Nokomis at about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 30 regarding a report of a battery.
One victim said Cocroft “was drinking excessively throughout the day” and had “kicked her bedroom door in,” entered the room and punched her in the head repeatedly, it says.
