VENICE – The State Attorney’s Office will not pursue felony elderly abuse charges brought against the owner of a Venice assisted living facility that were the result of a long-term Venice Police investigation.
Assistant State Attorney Joshua Wertheim for the 12th District filed a notice of case action on Dec. 17 that prosecutors would take no further action on charges filed against the facility’s owner, Boca Raton resident Hillel Feuerman, 33.
Feuerman faced charges of neglect of an elderly or disabled adult without great bodily harm – a third-degree felony – based on a Venice Police investigation that dated back to December 2022.
Feuerman owns The Pavilion of Downtown Venice, 200 N. Nassau Street, and at least two other assisted living facilities in the state.
He entered a written plea of “not guilty” on Aug. 5, 2024.
Feuerman is represented by defense attorney Derek Byrd of the Byrd Law Firm.
While the notice filed by Wertheim indicates that State Attorney Ed Brodsky’s office is not pursuing charges at this time, it noted that “this action is taken without prejudice to the right of the State of Florida to resume prosecution on this matter at a future date.”
