Clumps of clay used by a Ringling student lead to positive I.D. of “John Doe” in Lee County

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Ringling College of Art and Design student Noah Shadowens had no idea that some basic clay, along with basic details from the Lee County Medical Examiner and Fort Myers police would help positively identify a man who vanished nearly two years ago.

The 22-year-old senior from Virginia was one of several students and faculty who spent two hours a day, for five days in a program called “The Forensic Facial Approximations.”

The finished produce was handed over to a family along with handwritten notes found in a bookbag when the body was discovered. Two days later, Fort Myers police identified the skeletal remains of those belonging to Shane Williams…
