CCSO: Contractor accepted $30K to build home, but never started work

ENGLEWOOD — A contractor accused of accepting $30,000 for construction work that he didn’t perform is facing felony charges, Charlotte County detectives reported.

Renato Lerner, 50, of Plantation, Florida, was in the Charlotte County Jail on Friday, facing two felony counts, according to court records.

Deputies began an investigation of Lerner in November, when an Englewood resident went to the CCSO district office on Willmington Boulevard in Englewood, according to court records…
