Rain chances increasing for the weekend and beyond

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Warm humid weather to continue through the next few days with a chance for late day storms each day. Most of the storms will be inland and will move slowly to the east away from the coast. We will see an area of low pressure move in from the west over the northern Gulf coast states. This will bring a much better chance for some showers and thunderstorms mainly later on Sunday and possibly continue through Tuesday of next week. We will see the potential for some very heavy rainfall beginning late Sunday and on again and off again through Tuesday.

The weekend is looking like we will see some scattered storms on Saturday with the rain chance at 40% with some along the coast during the late morning and early afternoon followed by mainly inland storms late in the day on Saturday.

Sunday or Mother’s Day look for mostly cloudy skies with a good chance for showers and a few isolated thunderstorms at anytime during the day. Some of the rain could be heavy at times as we will see the winds out of the SW which will pump a lot of moisture into our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s for Sunday and the rain chance is at 50%…
